Suitcases and Bags

  • When picking a box, a new box is best. Old boxes may be damaged or weak
  • A double corrugated box is ideal for protection and sturdiness
  • Ensure it is big enough for your needs and has space around all sides, top and bottom for additional padding for protection
  • Ensure it is able to sustain the weight of your items
  • Remove all old labels on the box, particularly ones that have an old barcode on them
  • Use packaging material, ie/ bubble wrap, for packing between the box and your items on all sides as well as top and bottom of the box. There should be at least 4cm of packaging material protecting your goods on all sides
  • Precious or fragile items must be wrapped in bubble wrap individually
  • Loose and badly packed items will void any insurance you take out
  • Gently shake the box. If you can hear your items moving around or rattling, you do require more packaging material
  • Use strong packing tape to secure box and any weak areas like seams and corners; general sticky tape is not strong enough
  • If we have had enough time to send out label pouches, then please place your labels in the label pouch provided by us with the delivery address and barcode visible and facing outward. Securely attach the label pouch to the outside of the box. The label must not be damaged or obscured and must be visible at all times. Extra tape around the edges of the pouch will give additional security but must not obscure the name, address and barcodes on the label.
  • Tape the box well by running tape all the way around the box from front to back and also side to side. Tape seams well.
  • Couriers tend to ignore “Fragile Tape” and “Fragile Stickers” and are under no obligation to treat your parcel any differently to any other in transit
  • If a bag or box rubs up against other items in transit, labels may become lost or damaged if not secured on to the box correctly
